This short series of blog posts were originally written to help people find the good during the magical time of year leading up to Christmas and New Year. This can be one of the most difficult times of the year for some people. Watching on while others are celebrating and spending time with loved ones. Feeling left out or overwhelmed by all the noise, lights and colours.
And this series wants to recognise that and give practical tips on how to shift your mindset to find the good. At any time of year that people overwhelming.
We will draw inspiration from the works of Maxwell Maltz, Bob Proctor, Neville Goddard, and Napoleon Hill to deliver a positive and motivating message. While we acknowledge that certain times of year can be challenging for some, we firmly believe that to shift perspective we can uncover the beauty and joy that surrounds us.
Let’s explore how we can choose to see the world through a lens of positivity. Discover the good in every situation. Empower people to choose positivity so they can find some enjoyment in their usual Christmas (or any other time of year!) darkness.
Let us dive straight in and find out where we can find our inspiration.
Part 9. Finding Inspiration
The start of a new year is a time filled with excitement and potential. The start of a new job, new family member, new relationship, can also help in finding inspiration.
It’s a fresh beginning, a chance to reflect on the past and set our sights on the future.
It’s important to harness this energy and channel it towards setting positive intentions for success.
In this blog post, we will explore the power of new beginnings. Discuss the concept of positive intentions and C-Type goals. Share strategies for staying motivated throughout the year. And provide inspiring examples of people who have achieved their goals after staying productive and focused.
Finding Inspiration in The Excitement and Potential of ‘New’
The start of a new something is a magical time filled with a sense of renewal and possibility. For example, as the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve, we bid farewell to the past and welcome a fresh start. When you start a new job or career. At the birth of a baby. The start of a new relationship. It’s a time when we can leave behind any disappointments or setbacks from the past and embrace the opportunity for growth and transformation.
The blank canvas of something new holds infinite potential for finding inspiration. It’s a chance to dream big and envision a future filled with success and happiness. It invites us to reflect on our aspirations and set the stage for new achievements. It’s a time to ask ourselves,
“What do I truly want to accomplish? “
“How can I make this the best thing yet?“
Embracing the excitement and potential of something new allows us to tap into our inner drive and motivation. It ignites a spark within us, propelling us forward with renewed energy and enthusiasm. It’s a time to let go of self-doubt and limitations, and instead, embrace the belief that anything is possible.
Positive Intentions
Setting positive intentions during this time is crucial when finding inspiration. By consciously directing our thoughts and actions towards positive outcomes, we can shape our mindset and attract success into our lives. This new experience provides the perfect opportunity to align our intentions with our deepest desires and aspirations.
As we embark on this journey of growth and achievement, it’s important to remember that setbacks and challenges may arise along the way. However, by embracing the excitement and potential of the new thing, we cultivate a resilient mindset that allows us to overcome obstacles and stay focused on our goals. We can view these challenges as opportunities for growth and learning, rather than roadblocks to our success.
The new thing also offers a sense of community and shared optimism. New Year, for example, is a time when people around the world come together to celebrate new beginnings and support one another in their pursuit of happiness and success. This collective energy can be incredibly empowering, as we draw inspiration from the stories and achievements of others.
Setting Positive Intentions and Creating C-Type Goals
Setting positive intentions is a powerful way to shape our mindset and focus our energy amidst finding inspiration. One effective approach to goal setting is through the concept of C-Type goals, as advocated by renowned personal development expert Bob Proctor.
C-Type goals are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound. By following this framework, we can create goals that are both inspiring and achievable.
For example, instead of setting a vague goal like “lose weight,” we can set a C-Type goal such as “lose 10 pounds by the end of March through regular exercise and a healthy diet.” This clarity and specificity provide a roadmap for success and help us in finding inspiration
Setting goals based on Bob Proctor’s C-Type goals framework can significantly enhance our ability to achieve success.
Here’s how you can set C-Type goals:
Reflect and Visualise:
Take some time to reflect on what you truly desire to achieve. Visualise your ideal future and imagine yourself already having achieved those goals. Ignore any voice that pops up and tells you can’t do it because of whatever reason! That voice isn’t relevant at this stage.
Be Specific:
When setting goals, it’s important to be as specific as possible. For example, if your goal is to improve your fitness, specify the exact outcome you want to achieve, such as running a 5k race or completing a certain number of push-ups.
Make it Measurable:
To track your progress and stay motivated, ensure that your goals are measurable. This means including a quantifiable aspect to your goal. For instance, if your goal is to save money, specify the exact amount you want to save each month or by a certain date.
Ensure Attainability:
While it’s important to dream big, it’s equally crucial to set goals that are attainable. Set goals that stretch you outside your comfort zone but are still within reach with effort and dedication. This helps maintain a sense of motivation and prevents discouragement. But remember! If you can see yourself doing it in your imagination, then it is attainable for you! So don’t dilute your goal based on what you THINK you can do. Focus on what you WANT to do regardless.
Keep it Relevant:
Setting goals means considering WHY you are setting that goal. It’s essential that the goals you set are for you and not to support others! Your goal will still positively affect others as you work towards it, but to provide the utmost motivation and success, the goal must be beneficial to YOU and chosen by you.
Time-Bound:
Setting a deadline for your goals creates a sense of urgency and helps you stay focused. Determine a specific timeframe within which you aim to achieve your goals. This provides a sense of structure and allows you to track your progress along the way.
Write it Down:
Once you have defined your C-Type goals, write them down. This act of putting your goals on paper solidifies your commitment and serves as a constant reminder of what you’re working towards. Keep your goals in a visible place where you can regularly review and reassess them.
Take Action:
Setting goals is just the first step; taking consistent action is what brings them to life. Break down your goals into smaller action steps and create a plan to achieve them. Regularly review your progress, make adjustments if necessary, and celebrate milestones along the way.
By following these steps and adopting Bob Proctor’s C-Type goals framework, you can set goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound. This approach provides clarity, focus, and a roadmap for success, increasing your chances of achieving your desired outcomes and finding inspiration.
Remember, setting goals is an ongoing process, and it’s important to regularly review and adjust them as you progress on your journey towards success.
Strategies for Staying Motivated and Inspired
While setting positive intentions and goals is a crucial first step towards success, maintaining motivation and finding inspiration throughout the year can be a challenge. However, there are effective strategies that can help us stay focused and energised on our journey towards achieving our goals.
Two powerful methods include creating vision boards and finding mentors or role models.
Creating Vision Boards:
A vision or goal board is a visual representation of our goals and aspirations. It serves as a powerful tool to keep us motivated and remind us of what we’re working towards.
Here’s how you can create a vision board:
- Define Your Goals: Start by clarifying your goals and identifying the key areas of your life that you want to focus on. This could include career, relationships, health, personal growth. Or any other aspect that is important to you.
- Gather Visuals: Look for images, quotes, and words that resonate with your goals and aspirations. You can find these in magazines, online platforms, or even create your own graphics. Choose visuals that evoke positive emotions and reflect the outcomes you desire.
- Arrange and Display: Arrange the visuals on a board or poster in a way that feels visually appealing to you. You can organise them by category or create a collage-style arrangement. Place your vision board in a prominent location where you’ll see it every day; such as your bedroom or workspace.
- Regularly Engage: Take a few moments each day to engage with your vision board. Visualise yourself already having achieved your goals and feel the emotions associated with that success. Use your vision board as a source of inspiration and a reminder of what you’re working towards.
Finding Mentors or Role Models:
Having mentors or role models who have achieved similar goals can provide invaluable guidance and help you in finding inspiration.
Here’s how you can find mentors or role models:
- Identify Your Areas of Interest: Determine the specific areas or goals you want to focus on. Whether it’s entrepreneurship, fitness, personal development, or any other field. Identify the people who have achieved success in those areas.
- Research and Connect: Conduct research to find mentors or role models who align with your goals and values. Read their books. Listen to their podcasts. Watch their interviews. Sign up to their newsletter. Follow them on social media. Engage with their content and gain insights from their experiences.
- Seek Guidance: Reach out to potential mentors or role models through networking events, conferences, or online platforms. Attend workshops or seminars where they may be speaking. Be respectful and genuine in your approach. Expressing your admiration for their achievements and your desire to learn from them.
- Learn and Apply: Absorb the knowledge and wisdom shared by your mentors or role models. Apply their advice and strategies to your own journey. Regularly seek their guidance and feedback to stay on track and overcome challenges.
By creating vision boards and finding mentors or role models, we can stay motivated and inspired throughout the year. Vision boards serve as visual reminders of our goals, while mentors provide guidance and inspiration based on their own experiences.
These strategies help us maintain focus, overcome obstacles, and stay on the path towards achieving our aspirations.
Remember, motivation is a continuous process, and it’s important to regularly engage with these strategies to keep the fire of inspiration burning bright.
Inspiring Examples of Post-Holiday Success
The holiday season is a time of joy, reflection, and rejuvenation. It often leaves us feeling inspired and ready to embark on new challenges as we bid farewell to the year gone by. Many people have found their greatest inspiration during this time and have gone on to achieve remarkable success in their pursuits.
Let’s explore a couple of examples to illustrate the transformative power of the post-holiday period in finding inspiration.
“Jane”
During the holiday season, Jane found herself reflecting on her passions and desires. She had always dreamt of starting her own business but had been hesitant to take the leap. However, the sense of possibility and renewal that the holiday period brought, as well as some extra time off, inspired her to turn her dream into a reality.
With a clear vision and determination, Jane began researching and planning her business venture. She identified a gap in the market and developed a unique product or service that aligned with her passion. Drawing inspiration from the joy and generosity of the holiday season, she infused her business with a mission to bring happiness and value to her customers.
Jane’s inspiration fuelled her drive to overcome challenges and persevere through the initial stages of building her business. She sought guidance from mentors. Invested in her personal development. Surrounded herself with a supportive network. Through hard work, dedication, and the unwavering belief in her vision, Jane transformed her passion into a thriving venture, achieving remarkable success.
“John”
Another example is John, who like many others, experienced a profound sense of gratitude and compassion during the holiday season. Inspired by the joy of giving and the spirit of community, he decided to dedicate his time and energy to making a difference in the lives of others.
John identified a cause close to his heart and sought out volunteer opportunities within his community. He engaged with local organisations. Participated in charitable events. Offered his skills and expertise to support those in need. The holiday period served as a catalyst for his commitment to service and ignited a passion for making a positive impact.
As John immersed himself in his volunteer work, he discovered a sense of purpose and fulfilment that he had never experienced before. The holiday inspiration he felt propelled him to continue his efforts beyond the festive season. He became a driving force within his community, inspiring others to join him in creating positive change.
These examples of Jane and John demonstrate that the holiday period can be a transformative time, inspiring people to pursue their dreams and make a difference in the world. The sense of possibility and renewal that accompanies the starting of a new venture, making a career change, or dedicating ourselves to a cause we believe in, is endless. With determination, passion, and a clear vision, we can turn our dreams into reality and create a life filled with purpose and fulfilment.
