How To Develop A Good Mindset
Bob Proctor was, and several others are, regularly heard to say that 5% of anyone’s success has to do with strategy and plans. The remaining 95% comes from good mindset. This is why many ordinary people can achieve extraordinary success, and some brilliant people can struggle to make things happen.
Someone could be the smartest person in town, with a solid strategy for reaching a goal. But with the wrong mindset, not much is going to happen!
It Starts With Attitude

Real change requires strong and continued commitment. Big goals demand big effort. With average effort, the rewards will be average. This is what can make some goals seem impossible; they require big effort and humans rarely have an attitude above average. But for there to be an average, there must also be big and small!
We limit ourselves by comparing ourselves to others and the lifestyles they have. We have a range of what is comfortable and comparable based on our friends, neighbours, parents and communities. This creates an idea of what is obtainable for us, rather than what is possible. And we base our goals on what we know we can do or get and then take steps to achieve that limited goal.
This creates our biggest problem…
The goal is too limited, it is too easy to achieve so it doesn’t give us the satisfaction we are craving.
Attitude is the outcome from your thoughts, feelings and actions. When you limit your abilities by basing your goals on what people around you have done, you build resentment and frustration within you. You know instinctively that you are not reaching or aiming at your full potential. This causes internal conflict and an attitude that is not good enough to reach your success.
How Do You Change Your Attitude?
As with mindset, which I have discussed before, attitude is built on your thoughts. You choose your thoughts, and these thoughts create your emotions and actions. Your thoughts are at their best when you are aiming at the thing you really want. Really want more than anything else.
That you will give your current life for.
Once you have decided what you want, you must create a new model to work with. You cannot reach what you want with the models you are currently working with. If you could, you would have gotten it already!
“You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”
R. Buckminster Fuller
You can take incremental steps to build this new model, but you can also conduct a big and bold experiment by taking a totally new approach right now. This experiment allows a big mindset shift because it is not based on anything you have done before. It is trying something new, where the boundaries of what is possible are expanded.
A Process To Build A Good Mindset Model
Follow this experiment to build a new model:
- Think about a goal that really excites you. Something that will motivate, fascinate and stimulate you to attempt. Focus on how you will feel when you reach that goal.
- Set a 3-month timeline. The pressure of a timeline will create flow, deep creativity and a sense of urgency.
- Focus on who, not how. Who could you collaborate with to help you reach or exceed your goal? Who could help you fast-track your results? Who could you involve that would take this experiment beyond where you’ve currently imagined it? Look for people who push you past your current limited ways of thinking. Trying to do things by yourself often leads to procrastination and failure. A good mentor or accountability partner will better enable your success.
- Do something that moves you closer to your goal every day. Every night decide one to three things to do the next day to move you closer to your goal. Write them on your calendar or get done list to ensure they are done, and share them with someone else who can hold you to account to do them. By setting them into your calendar and prioritising them, pushing everything else aside until they are done, you will be surprised by how much you will get done!
Changing Your Mindset Can’t Be Done Alone
A train has a tremendous amount of momentum that keeps it moving along the same track. It takes an unexpected force to redirect that train. And humans are the same. We follow the same track until something major happens to make us shift track.

That something major can be as simple as making a decision to make a change. Then having the discipline to follow your own commands.
There will have been times in your life when you decided to make changes. To get in shape, start a business, establish multiple sources of income… But many of you let the idea slip away and fall back into old habits.
This isn’t your fault. It is a lack of awareness.
Our beliefs and paradigms are so ingrained, that simply deciding to make a change often isn’t enough.
There is a 10% chance that you will actually make a change by doing it alone and without a definite set date. But by setting a specific time, be it daily or weekly, to share your progress with someone else, you create a 95% chance of change. Accountability greatly increases your chance of doing what you are going to do.
The Law Of Attraction And Mindset
The four steps of attraction and manifestation are:
- Write down what you want
- Visualise what you want as if it is already true, with as much positive emotion as possible as often as possible
- Take actions toward your goal
- Keep your frequency high by thinking positive thoughts, thoughts that cause you to feel good
It is step 4 that I want to focus on within this topic of creating a good mindset. Without a positive vibe, feeling good on the inside, you will not be able to attract what you want. The Law of Attraction states that you attract what you are, not what you want.
To feel good consistently, you must change your vibration by elevating your thoughts. There are many ways to do this, and as we are all different, each of us will have a method that works for us that may not work for someone else.
Tips On How You Can Help Yourself Create A Good Mindset
- Take care of your body. Eat high-frequency foods (fresh organic fruits and vegetables, especially cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage) that affect your mind as well as your body. Stay hydrated to flush out toxicity. Get consistent, regular exercise. And get sufficient sleep for your body, which may be more or less than the average figure of 7 to 8 hours a night.
- Elevate your thoughts. Focus on what you want, not what you have now or what you don’t want. Cultivate the state of mind you would have if you had everything you wanted. Spend time every day imagining what you want as if you already have it while conjuring up all the positive emotions. Set meaningful goals based on what you really want. Remember you have unlimited potential. Strive to make each day amazing by asking yourself “how can I make today more amazing?”. By asking you remind yourself you are in control of how your day goes.
- Connect with spirit. Practice transcendence by joining a church or spiritual group, or practicing yoga or meditation. Dedicate time to helping others, even as small as giving heartfelt compliments. Smile often, even moving your mouth into a smile will help you instantly feel better! Get in a flow, lose yourself in whatever you are doing by actively engaging in activities and hobbies that help activate this experience. Surround yourself with what you want in life, fill your mind with positivity and purpose, send love to all those around you and live each day with good intentions.
How To Give Yourself A Mental Adjustment

The subconscious mind cannot differentiate between that which is real and that which is imagined. By focusing on or imagining things you don’t want your subconscious mind must accept it as real. Your subconscious mind can only accept what you give to it, so instead of putting your attention on what you don’t want, start to think.
You can choose to accept or reject any ideas flowing into your conscious mind. But 90% or more of us leave their subconscious mind wide open and let whatever is going on around them right in. We have been programmed NOT to think. The subconscious mind will get emotionally involved with whatever you choose to accept into your subconscious mind.
If people were thinking, they’d stop talking about bad news and hard times, doing the same things over and over while expecting different results. So change your loyalties and start to focus on what you REALLY want. Build the details of how you want to feel each day and how you want to live your life. Forget about what you are comfortable with or what you think you can do, think from an entirely new perspective.
Think from your dream, not from your limited self.
By changing what you let into your mind, you reset your mindset. You are in charge of and entirely responsible for your thoughts and what you tell your mind. You can choose to originate new thoughts and tell your mind anything you want.
Things To Tell Yourself To Start A New Story
There are only two ways to impress an idea into your subconscious mind. A sudden impact or through repetition. So use repetition and say this affirmation every day for the next 3 weeks:
I willingly release the thoughts and things that clutter my mind, and I allow Spirit to work through me and express itself in a far greater way. I recognise that my results and my being are not the same things, and I reaffirm that I am a creative person.
I go forward in a spirit of expectation and understand that I cannot know all of what the universe has in store for me, so I will remain open to all things. I am so happy and grateful now that the good, which I desire, is worthy of me. I move forward with the joyful expectation that I will achieve my goal.
Don’t see just the physical body when you look in the mirror. Start seeing and thinking of yourself as the spiritual being that you are. See the perfection inside you. Your wants come from the heart, your spiritual centre, and are the expression of your spirit.
Take a look at your habitual behaviours. Pick one, only one, that is not serving you, and decide that you are going to change it. See my previous post about changing habits to learn more.
