Cultivating The Sage Powers : The Navigate and Activate Powers

The Sage Powers of Shirzad Chamine’s Positive Intelligence framework are five distinct mental strengths that allow us to overcome our inner saboteurs and unlock our potential. The Navigate and Activate Sage Powers are the final two, and together they form the bridge between vision and action, guiding us towards wise decisions and helping us bring our aspirations into reality. Explore and Innovate

The Navigate and Activate Sage Powers in the PQ Approach

Within the PQ Approach, the Navigate and Activate Sage Powers complement the earlier powers of Empathise, Explore, and Innovate.

  • Navigate helps you make wise, values-driven decisions even in uncertainty.
  • Activate inspires you to take consistent, purposeful action toward your goals.

Together, they enable you to see the right path and then walk it with confidence and determination.

The Navigate Sage Power

What Is the Navigate Sage Power?

The Navigate Sage Power is about using your intuition, discernment, and inner wisdom to choose the path that best aligns with your values and long-term vision. It’s more than just logical decision-making, it’s listening to your inner voice, trusting your instincts, and finding your way through complexity.

By developing the Navigate power, you become more adept at:

  • Managing uncertainty with confidence.
  • Weighing options carefully.
  • Integrating rational thought with intuitive insight.

It also requires self-awareness, understanding your biases and emotional triggers so they don’t cloud your judgement.

How to Cultivate the Navigate Sage Power

  1. Cultivate Self-Reflection – Schedule time for journaling, meditation, or quiet thought to deepen your awareness.
  2. Develop Intuition – Pay attention to gut feelings and subtle signals from your subconscious.
  3. Clarify Values and Goals – Define what matters most so your decisions stay aligned with your purpose.
  4. Gather Information – Research, consult mentors, and explore different perspectives.
  5. Assess Consequences – Weigh both short-term and long-term impacts.
  6. Embrace Uncertainty – See ambiguity as an opportunity rather than a threat.
  7. Seek Guidance – Listen to trusted voices, but make your own call.
  8. Practice Decisiveness – Avoid overthinking; make timely, considered choices.

Flash Forward Power Game for the Navigate Sage Power

Shirzad Chamine suggests a “Flash Forward” exercise:

“When faced with a fork in the road, imagine yourself at the end of your life looking back. Which choice would you be most proud of?”

This perspective cuts through the noise of saboteur thinking and helps you identify your truest path.

The Activate Sage Power

What Is the Activate Sage Power?

Once you’ve empathised, explored, innovated, and navigated, the Activate Sage Power helps you take bold, purposeful action. It’s about commitment, motivation, and resilience. Turning your insights into tangible results.

By activating this power, you can:

  • Close the gap between intention and action.
  • Overcome procrastination and self-doubt.
  • Persist through challenges and setbacks.

How to Cultivate the Activate Sage Power

  1. Set Clear Goals – Use the SMART framework for focus and motivation.
  2. Break It Down – Divide goals into manageable, actionable steps.
  3. Develop a Plan – Map out the next step and allocate resources.
  4. Build Self-Discipline – Create routines and hold yourself accountable.
  5. Adopt a Growth Mindset – See challenges as opportunities to learn.
  6. Overcome Self-Doubt – Challenge limiting beliefs with positive self-talk.
  7. Take Consistent Action – Do something every day, no matter how small.
  8. Embrace Resilience – Learn from setbacks and adapt quickly.
  9. Seek Support – Surround yourself with positive, goal-focused people.
  10. Celebrate Milestones – Reward progress to maintain momentum.

Pre-Empt the Saboteurs Power Game for the Activate Sage Power

Shirzad Chamine recommends predicting how your inner saboteurs might try to derail you:

“Imagine the thoughts they will use to discourage you. By anticipating their lies, you can intercept and neutralise them before they take hold.”

This technique helps you maintain action even under pressure.

Why the Navigate and Activate Sage Powers Matter

The Navigate and Activate Sage Powers are the culmination of the PQ Approach. Navigate ensures you’re heading in the right direction, and Activate ensures you keep moving forward.

By cultivating these powers, you can:

  • Make wise, values-driven decisions.
  • Maintain momentum even in the face of adversity.
  • Live with clarity, purpose, and impact.

They are not just about achieving goals. They’re about becoming the kind of person who follows through with wisdom, courage, and authenticity.

What Do You Think?

The Navigate and Activate Sage Powers are more than skills; they’re ways of being. When you learn to trust your inner compass and take decisive, consistent action, you open the door to a life of purpose, resilience, and fulfilment.

Combined with the other Sage Powers (Empathise, Explore, and Innovate) they create a holistic framework for self-discovery and transformation. By practising them daily, you not only navigate life’s challenges more effectively but also turn your most important intentions into reality.
